Roy Hodgson has now heaped praise on Malcolm Ebiowei after the Crystal Palace No.23 shone against Monaco.
It was The Athletic who quoted the 76-year-old on the 20-year-old.

What’s the story?
Well, the Croydon-born tactician was in attendance at the VBS Community Stadium on Tuesday, to watch Crystal Palace’s Under-21 side take on Monaco’s Under-21s in the Premier League International Cup.
Ebiowei assisted Matheus Franca for the opening goal and also scored a superb, curling effort himself, leaving Hodgson very impressed.
He said: “Malcolm Ebiowei was outstanding. I joked with Steve Parish, ‘You’d better get your chequebook out because Monaco are going to speak to you after the game and buy him’. That’s how good he was. He was outstanding.”
It is nice to hear Hodgson praise the England Under-20 international, as he is often quite harsh on our young talents.
For example, the Crystal Palace boss took Jesurun Rak-Sakyi off at half-time in the 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester United, before explaining that the move was to help the Eagles attack more productively.
Hodgson again delivered a blunt line when discussing Franca and Rak-Sakyi’s positive cameos in Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Newcastle, saying: “If I were them and you’re going to start writing how good they were in that 15 to 20 minutes, I would advise them not to read the newspapers.”
Therefore, it was nice to see Ebiowei on the end of a bit of positivity for once.
Crystal Palace fans should not forget about Malcolm Ebiowei
There was a lot of excitement when Ebiowei moved to Selhurst Park from Derby back in June 2022 – rejecting Manchester United in favour of Crystal Palace, according to The Athletic.
The Londoner actually made five Premier League appearances under Patrick Vieira, although Hodgson is yet to hand him a single second of action following a quiet loan spell at Hull City last season.
Hopefully, Ebiowei’s bright display against Monaco is the start of something special – Crystal Palace fans certainly should not forget about this exciting talent.
