Another Aston Villa exit confirmed amid Tottenham return links
The latest Aston Villa news as the scout has been at Villa Park for just over three years and has been credited with helping bring some big players to the Premier League.

Former head of recruitment at Aston Villa Rob Mackenzie has left the club, it has been confirmed.
The scout had been with Villa for just over three years after initially joining the club in 2020 as head of recruitment. More recently he has been working alongside global technical director Alberto Benito amid a restructure of the club staff.
Mackenzie has been recognised for his work with a number of clubs over the last few years. He was one of the people responsible for the signing of Riyad Mahrez and Estaban Cambiasso during his time as a scout at Leicester City between 2011 and 2015.
He left Leicester to take up a similar role at Tottenham in February 2015, before becoming head of scouting at Derby County. A spell with Belgian side OH Leuven followed before he joined Villa in 2020.
During his time at Tottenham, he is credited with helping to take South Korean striker Heung-Min Son to the club. The forward has seamlessly stepped up following Harry Kane’s exit to Bayern Munich.
Mackenzie’s exit comes after it was confirmed director of global development Johan Lange had completed a move to Tottenham. It has been reported in some outlets that the scout could be set for a return to the North London club.
Matthew Kidson has arrived at Villa as the club’s director of global development. He was formerly the director of sport for the successful 2022 Commonwealth Games which took place in Birmingham.
