Everton ace ‘creeping up’ unwanted list after what happened v West Ham

Goodison View: Everton ace ‘creeping up’ unwanted list after what happened v West Ham

Jordan Pickford was crucial between the sticks as Everton clinched a massive victory against West Ham United.

The goalkeeper kept a much-needed clean sheet as the Toffees defeated the Hammers 1-0 on Sunday (29 October).

Star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the tense Premier League encounter at the London Stadium.

The match-winner undoubtedly deserves much of the plaudits, but at the other end Pickford played a crucial role in keeping out a talented West Ham attack.

One member of that attack was summer signing Mohammed Kudus, with both the Ghana international and Pickford caught in an early scuffle in East London.

There wasn’t much to it, but they couldn’t escape yellow cards, with both players cautioned in the 28th minute of the match.

With that caution, the Everton number reached 14 yellow cards in his Premier League career, according to BBC Match of the Day, who wrote that the goalkeeper is “creeping up the list.”

It isn’t a list that the shot-stopper will want to be on, although he does have a fair way to go if he is to reach the top of the standings.

Currently top of the pile is Jussi Jaaskelainen with 24, followed by Shay Given (19), Ederson (17), Emiliano Martinez and Tim Howard (both 16).

Everton boss Sean Dyche may not be pleased with the goalkeeper’s antics on that front, but he will undoubtedly instead be focusing on his decisions between the sticks which helped the Toffees secure just their third Premier League win of the season.
