BREAKING NEWS: Crystal Palace confirms a new injury ahead of their match against…

Crystal Palace could have a new right-back option after encouraging development.
Nathan Ferguson played for the Crystal Palace U21s and the great news is that he managed to complete 90 minutes.
He helped the Eagles win 3-1 against AS Monaco in the Premier League International Cup.
So, how did Nathan Ferguson play and why is this promising for Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
Nathan Ferguson completes 90 minutes for Crystal Palace U21s
All Palace fans will know that Ferguson’s luck at the South London club has not been good. He has struggled with many injuries since signing in July 2020.
These injuries have seen him only feature in one senior game for the club. He made an eight-minute appearance in December 2021. He has made appearances for the academy side, but again injuries have blocked him featuring consistently.
Last night was the first time Ferguson managed to complete 90 minutes since January 2022 and this is a huge positive for both the defender and the club.

The 23-year-old’s contract was due to expire last summer but the Eagles decided to take a risk and extend his contract.
A huge positive for the Eagles
When Ferguson signed for the club, he came with a lot of promise. The Englishman can play right-back or centre-back and still has many years to make it in the Premier League.
With Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne both in their mid 30s, there is definitely the need for Palace to sign a right-back in the future.
This problem possibly becomes a little easier should Ferguson start stay match fit. He may also be used as a centre-back. To have him as a possible full-back option would be great news.
This is a huge opportunity for Ferguson if he is able to keep fit and play multiple games in a row for the academy side.
He probably still won’t get game time in the first team yet as he works on being fully fit. If he can prove himself this season before his contract expires in June 2024 then he will no doubt be rewarded with a new deal.
All associated with the club would love Ferguson to turn his Crystal Palace career around. He has suffering so many injuries over the last three years. It would be great if the Eagles could soon have this new option at right-back.
