Multi-million pound Leicester City agreement looking likely, club hopeful

Sporting CP is increasingly confident that Abdul Fatawu will permanently join Leicester City in the next summer’s transfer window.
Fatawu has performed well for Leicester since joining on a season-long loan, scoring his first goal recently.
If Leicester wins promotion to the Premier League, Fatawu’s loan deal will be triggered into a permanent move, costing around €17 million.

It seems there is a growing expectation that Abdul Fatawu will complete a permanent move to Leicester City in next summer’s transfer window.
That’s after a report from Portuguese outlet Record, claimed that the winger’s parent club, Sporting CP, are becoming increasingly confident that a deal will be completed when the Foxes win promotion to the Premier League.
How has Fatawu done since joining Leicester?
Fatawu was one of nine new players to be added to Leicester’s first-team squad during the summer transfer window, joining on a season-long loan from Sporti
The 19-year-old had previously made 12 first-team appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese giants.
Since completing his move to The King Power Stadium, Fatawu has featured nine times for the Foxes, and scored his first goal for the club in their 3-1 win away at Swansea City on Saturday.
Now it seems as though the prospect of the winger’s stay at Leicester being extended beyond the current campaign, is one some key figures behind the deal, are expecting to happen.
Could Fatawu’s loan move to Leicester become permanent?
According to this latest update from Record, Fatawu’s performances alone will not be enough to guarantee he makes a permanent move to The King Power Stadium come the summer.
However, if Leicester win promotion to the Premier League, that will trigger a clause in Fatawu’s loan deal, that will ensure he joins the club on a permanent basis.
Should that happen, it is thought that the Foxes will have to pay Sporting a fee in the region of €17million for his services.
Given Fatawu had never fully established himself in Sporting’s side, the Portuguese giants are seemingly keen for that move to be completed, and are confident of it happening, given Leicester’s current form.
Where are Leicester in the Championship?
Following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, Leicester have made a strong start to life back in the Championship.
Under new manager Enzo Maresca, the Foxes have taken 33 points from their 12 league games so far.
As a result, they sit top of the Championship standings, 11 points clear of the play-off places, meaning Sporting’s confidence of them winning promotion to trigger that purchase option in Fatawu’s loan, currently looks to be justified.
Leicester are next in action on Tuesday night, when they host Sunderland at The King Power Stadium.
Would a permanent move for Fatawu be a good one for Leicester?
It does feel as though a permanent move for Fatawu could be a useful one to make for Leicester.
The winger has already shown plenty of promise at The King Power Stadium, and at 19-years-old, he has plenty of time to develop and improve his game.
That could see him become a useful asset in the future, meaning signing him on a permanent long-term deal could turn into a smart piece of business for the Foxes.
Given the windfall they would receive for winning promotion to the Premier League, this could be an affordable deal as well for Leicester, so it could be one that makes sense for them in every respect.
