Dominic Calvert-Lewin lined up for Everton exit, Al-Ettifaq want striker in ‘lucrative’ January transfer

Al-Ettifaq could offer Everton a “lucrative” offer for Dominic Calvert-Lewin this January, according to Alan Nixon.

Posting on his Patreon (22 October), the journalist shared that Steven Gerrard’s Saudia Arabian outfit is keen on the striker amid 777 Partners’ protracted takeover bid of the club.

Calvert-Lewin would join Jordan Henderson and Demarai Gray at Al-Ettifaq, but the Saudi side would have to sell some foreign players if they want to secure the 26-year-old.

Calvert-Lewin has been Everton’s biggest and best goal threat for a number of seasons and selling him should be done with extreme caution.

Until, and if, 777 takes over the club, Everton fans remain in the dark about the potential new owners’ transfer strategy and budget, meaning a potential replacement could be signed if the cash was there.

The Englishman would also fetch a big fee, especially from the overspending Saudi Arabian clubs. While the thought of the club’s main man going over to be coached by a Liverpool legend will not please many Everton fans, a big sale could be tempting for the financially struggling club.

Neither Beto nor Youssef Chermiti have hit the ground running at Goodison Park, so the club’s scouting may come into question if the signings don’t pick up their slack. Therefore, Calvert-Lewin should be kept at the club for the foreseeable as he will most likely be a difference-maker across the season.

He is quite injury-prone, so again the club have more of a reason to sell him for a high fee, but his quality when he is available is unquestionable. Nixon also noted that there could be Premier League interest, which may suit the striker more if he wants to remain in Europe and be in contention for the England squad.

Regardless, Sean Dyche depends on Calvert-Lewin and his departure may come at a cost for the club.
