Jason Whitlock slammed ESPN after the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese took the top spot on their Rookie of the Year rankings from Indiana’s Caitlin Clark.
On Thursday, ESPN released their new WNBA rookie rankings with the former LSU star topping the list and her college rival going second.
After the updated rankings came out, X account @xGuruNews shared a screenshot of Reese on top of the list. Just under an hour later, Whitlock reposted the screenshot and ridiculed ESPN for the decision.
‘ESPN just doesn’t care about its credibility,’ he wrote.
Ever-controversial, Whitlock has made his critiques known around the star-studded WNBA rookie class. He previously questioned Clark’s ability during her early struggles in the league and later pointed how the WNBA made up records to elevate Reese.

Reese tops the rankings with 2.9 consensus wins as Clark trails her with 1.6. Washington’s Aaliyah Edwards (0.8), Chicago’s Kamilla Cardoso (0.6), and New York’s Leonie Fiebch (0.5) complete the top 5.
Meanwhile, Kate Martin of the Las Vegas Aces and Rickea Jackson of the Los Angeles Sparks went sixth and seventh despite Martin gaining 0.1 of consensus wins and Jackson earning none.
Reese is averaging 14 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals so far this season. On the other hand, Clark averages 16.7 points, 5.9 boards, 7.6 dishes and 1.5 steals.
Clark’s impact has been felt as her popularity spearheaded a spike in the WNBA’s viewership and attendance. However, the NCAA’s all-time top scorer experienced some inconsistencies after transitioning into the WNBA.

Nevertheless, Clark has found her stride in the scoring department in recent games, with double-digit points in their last nine games as the Fever went 5-4.
On the other hand, Reese has been making history by tallying consecutive double-doubles in the Sky’s last 14 outings. Despite winning only 6 of those games, Reese’s ability to fill the stat sheet recently gained the praise of WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart.

Reese impressively leads the league in rebounds per game and total rebounds with 250. Aces star A’ja Wilson trail her in both categories with 11.3 rebounds per game and 238 total.
