Sean Dyche finally receives huge Everton boost with key player now set to return

Everton are suffering something of a crisis at the moment on the pitch, finally matching all the turmoil endured off it.

Sean Dyche has worked wonders in playing down the various troubles faced, from points deductions and financial constraints to an injury crisis that has left them ravaged in key positions.

They just keep plugging on, and despite a poor run of form, he seeks positivity when possible in every press conference.

That is made tough to buy into though when players keep dropping like flies. Each injury update he issues feels longer and more frustrating than the last, with fans swiftly getting tired of the lack of options he has going into this integral final four months of the season.

Fortunately, they are now definitely set to enjoy one boost, which could hopefully kickstart a domino effect which finally eases the burden.

Which Everton players are currently unavailable?
The list of absentees is endless at the moment for Dyche, who revealed just yesterday that both Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young were doubts.

However, such is their current crisis, the latter was pointed out as someone who might be forced back into action early because of their situation.

These two make up a couple of key defensive injuries, whilst the midfield has also been left bare through Abdoulaye Doucoure, Dele Alli and Andre Gomes’ persisting ailments.

That is what makes Idrissa Gana Gueye’s impending comeback all the sweeter, with the 34-year-old having been dumped out of AFCON last night on penalties.

Although he will be unavailable for tonight’s match against Fulham, there is hope that he can put aside his national disappointment and return laser-focused on providing a key service for Dyche in his hour of need.

How important is Idrissa Gana Gueye?
Although before his departure for international duty he was garnering a reputation as a liability in possession, this is a fanbase that can no longer be so picky.

After all, the positives far outweigh the negatives when Gueye plays, who offers so much unbridled energy and tackling prowess in the engine room.

Dyche will hope to integrate him as soon as possible, but attest that he must not try anything too dangerous in his position.

If he can get him doing the simple stuff again whilst maintaining his work rate, the defensive foundation he will provide alongside Amadou Onana could be vital in allowing James Garner to push forward and fill the Doucoure vacancy that remains.

It is the key position that they still seem lost when he is not there, and due to a lack of options in the midfield, solutions have been few and far between.

Well, it cannot be understated just how important and timely Gueye’s return is, to allow some tactical flexibility at last.
