Matheus Franca Injury Update
The 19-year-old Brazilian wonderkid signed in the summer for around £26million from Flamengo. Sadly, Matheus Franca hasn’t played a single minute for Crystal Palace due to an injury. The good news is that he is now close to a return and it looks like he could make the match day squad for Crystal Palace’s next game against Newcastle United.
Nathan Ferguson joined Crystal Palace in July 2020 but his career at the Eagles has been plagued with injuries. These injuries have seen the defender only play one senior game for the club. Sadly, he is still sidelined, but the 22-year-old looks close to returning. Ferguson is currently back in training, but the club are taking their time with him to not aggravate former injuries
Jefferson Lerma only returned to training during the second week of the October international break after a thigh injury he suffered earlier in the season. The midfielder will be assessed in the days leading up to the Newcastle match but it may come too soon for him. Palace fans will be hoping for the Columbian international to be back sooner rather than later.
Joel Ward missed Crystal Palace’s last game against Nottingham Forest with a groin injury and it was the first Premier League game he had missed this season. The extent to his injury is unknown but it is not thought to be one too serious.

Naouriou Ahamada suffered an injury in training with Crystal Palace and hasn’t been available since mid-September. The latest was that he could be back for the South London club after the international break as he is back in training. At the time, it was noted down as a light injury as well.
The latest on goalkeeper Dean Henderson was that he was having to go for another scan in order to see the severity of the injury. The summer signing suffered the injury during his Crystal Palace debut in the Carabao Cup against his former club Manchester United. The issue looked to be a thigh injury and it was severe enough for the club to not know when he will currently return
Eberechi Eze picked up an injury the week before the Nottingham Forest match. He suffered a hamstring injury and the last update we got was that the attacking midfielder had gone for a scan. They are hopeful that Eze will only be out for five-six weeks. He is the talisman for the Eagles, with 10 goals in the Premier League last season, so the club will be wanting him back as soon as possible.
Cheick Doucoure was another Crystal Palace player who picked up an injury in the build up to the Nottingham Forest game. It was another hamstring injury. He was named in the squad for Mali over the international break, but did not feature. He was just not ready for the Forest game but the club are hopeful that he will be ready for Newcastle.
Jeffrey Schlupp had to be substituted off with an injury in the last game before the international break. Due to the timing of this injury, he is currently being assessed. The severity of the injury is unknown but the two weeks off would have massively helped him recover.
Like Schlupp, Jairo Riedewald picked up his injury against Nottingham Forest at Selhurst Park. He was being assessed over the international break. The central midfielder suffered an injury to his groin and this saw him substituted during the second half of the match.
Michael Olise has not played a single minute this season due to the injury he suffered on international duty with the France U21 squad over the summer. The good news is that he is training again with the first team squad after his hamstring injury. Olise is very close to returning but Newcastle may come too soon. He is in contention for the match.
