‘Massive club’: £12m player now claims he didn’t think twice about joining Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei says he did not have to think at all about joining the Premier League club.

Cesare Casadei is on loan at Leicester City for the season and has been speaking to their official website about his move to England.

Chelsea signed the 20-year-old from Inter Milan last summer in an initial £12m deal, as reported by The Guardian.

However, Casadei, who spent the second half of the 2022/23 season out on loan at Reading, is yet to play a game for his parent club.

Cesare Casadei could not say no to Chelsea
For Casadei, it was practically impossible to turn down a move to west London.

On his switch to Chelsea, the Italian told Leicester’s official club website: “Chelsea is a massive club, it’s a big one. I thought that moment could arrive just once in my life.

“When Chelsea came to me, I didn’t think at all to be honest because I just wanted to join them. I know how big Chelsea is and for my development I thought that was the best choice for me.”

Could Cesare Casadei stay at Leicester for another season?
You would not rule it out, especially if Enzo Maresca’s side win promotion back to the Premier League.

Casadei probably needs a loan in English football’s top flight to be ready for the Chelsea first team. And even if he is ready now, he could struggle to find minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Mauricio Pochettino already has Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu in his squad.

When you consider that, another loan move would probably be best for Casadei. And then after that, maybe Pochettino can start thinking about integrating him into the first team.

Until then, Casadei will be concentrating on helping Leicester to win promotion, which they have a great chance of doing. The Foxes are currently first in the Championship.
