‘He demolishes his rivals’: £165,000-a-week Tottenham player impresses on international duty
Argentina got the better of Paraguay in World Cup qualifying in Buenos Aires on Thursday night, and one of the best players on the pitch was Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero.
Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina won 1-0 against Paraguay.
Former Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi scored the only goal of the match.
Cristiano Romero won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina, and there was no surprise to see the Tottenham Hotspur start and star for his country.
The £165,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender was brilliant in his role at the back.
Praise for Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero for Argentina vs Paraguay
Romero’s performance impressed the media.
Goal gave Romero 7 out of 10 and noted: “Didn’t do as much on either end as his center-back partner, but was still as solid as can be.”
TyC Sports in Argentina gave the 25-year-old 8 out of 10 and observed: “The level of risk he takes in each match is as high as it is effective.
“Psychologically he demolishes his rivals.”
Cristian Romero a star for Tottenham Hotspur and Argentina
In my opinion, Cristiano Romero is one of the best defenders in the world.
I am not surprised at all to see Romero star for Argentina yet again.
The defender was a rock at the back for Argentina against Paraguay.
Just as he has been for Tottenham this season.
Tottenham and Argentina are a better team with Romero in it.
