Liverpool expected to try and sign 22-year-old before the January transfer window

Liverpool are set to ramp up their attempts to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade.

The Reds were heavily linked with a move for Andre throughout the summer, but the Brazilian club refused to entertain a sale.

Now though, with their season coming to an end in December, rumours have once again been swirling that the 22-year-old is Liverpool bound.

Lending their voice to that is TeamTALK, who today claim that Andre is ‘very much on the Red’s radar.’

‘Well-place sources’ have reportedly told the outlet that Liverpool are ‘expected’ to try and get a deal sorted before the January transfer window even opens.

With Liverpool’s need for a new defensive midfielder there for all to see, Andre would appear the most obvious answer.

The Reds clearly tried to get him this summer – Fluminense’s president confirmed as much.

And as they could still do with a player of his profile – in Tim Vickery’s words [Football Daily] a ‘quick defensive midfielder’ – it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this one eventually happen.

This could mean that Andre is set for the biggest couple of months of his career.

It looks virtually impossible for Fluminense to win the Brasileiro this season from here, but they are in their first Copa Libertadores final for 15 years.

That’s why Flu were so keen to keep hold of Andre, and he could now help them lift their first ever continental title.

With that final set to take place at their home, the Maracana, on November 4th, and then a move to Liverpool potentially coming shortly after, Andre’s life could be about to change. Things might start to move quickly after Bonfire Night, so keep an eye on this one, Reds.
