Tottenham’s James Maddison is fit for the Liverpool game
Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a huge injury blow as summer signing James Maddison is expected to be fit for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool, according to Football.London.
Maddison was substituted in Tottenham’s 2-2 north London derby draw at Arsenal last weekend. The attacking midfielder tweaked his knee and was feared to face a spell on the touchline.
However, the report claims the England international had scans earlier this week and they showed no major damage. Maddison has been monitored but has been able to train with his team-mates this week and will face Liverpool on Saturday. Spurs captain Son Heung-min also picked up a knock against Arsenal but is expected to be fit for Liverpool, a key addition for Ange Postecoglou.
Maddison and Son combined twice at the Emirates Stadium to draw Spurs level as the Gunners twice took the lead. Tottenham have made an impressive start to the new season as they are unbeaten so far.
Spurs have collected 14 points from their first six games and are fourth in the Premier League table, just four points behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City. A win over Liverpool would lift the Tottenham Reds into second place. Relief
Maddison has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club from Leicester City in the summer. He played seven games in all leagues, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
He formed a lethal partnership with Son that took the club to new heights this campaign. His availability is great news for Postecoglou, who are aiming to secure Champions League qualification at the end of this season.
Tottenham are currently out of Europe after
finishing 8th in the league table last season
and their quest for silverware continues after
Fulham knocked them out of the Carabao
Cup on penalties.
