Tottenham have announced the signing of defender Luka Vuksovic from Hajduk Split on a deal that will begin from 2025 onwards. The 16-year-old is confirmed to have signed a five-year deal that will take his stay until 2030, having shown plenty of promise for the future.
The defender made his way through the youth ranks at Hadjuk Split, making his debut in February this year, where he became the youngest player to feature in the Croatian top flight. The youngster is right-footed, but has shown the ability to play on the left and the right of central defence.
At six foot and three inches tall, Vuksovic is an imposing defender with plenty of physicality, despite his young age. It led to plenty of interest from elsewhere in a potential gem for the future, but it’s Tottenham that have won the race to add him to their ranks.
Fans won’t get their first glimpse of him playing in a Spurs shirt for a little under two years though, due to regulation issues. Under FIFA’s rules, as stated on the FA website, the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU means that clubs in Britain are not be able to sign players from overseas until they are 18 years old.
It continues moves behind the scenes aimed at getting the best young talent through the doors at Tottenham, with hopes that they will become stars. Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie are just two in the current first-team that have represented that shift in approach in the past few years.

In the summer, Alejo Veliz was signed from Rosario Central for a fee worth roughly £13million, with hopes that the 20-year-old striker will one day reach the heights. Looking within their own academy, Spurs are starting to mount something of a charge themselves too.
