Tom Davies has opened up on his struggles since leaving Everton.
Taking to his Instagram, the midfielder addressed his recent injury and revealed he would be participating in a fundraiser for mental health charity James’ Place.
Davies spent 14 years at Everton and was previously named as the club’s Young Player of the Year, as well as CIES Football Observatory’s seventh-most promising footballer in the world under the age of 20.
However, Davies endured a decline in form and made only 19 appearances in the Premier League last season before he turned down the opportunity to extend his contract in the summer.
The 25-year-old eventually joined Sheffield United on a free transfer but has only managed three appearances from the bench, while his start to the campaign was made even worse when he picked up a freak injury in training.
Davies is expected to be sidelined for around four months and is now eager to look after his own mental health while also helping others.

Writing on his Instagram story today, Davies said: “It’s not been a great start to the season for myself and I have unfortunately picked up another injury.
“It’s been a really hard time for me and I’m doing my best to find some peace with the situation.
“While this has happened it’s made me realise how much I need to pay attention to my mental health as well as my physical.
“Therefore I’m doing a fundraiser for @jamesplaceuk by cutting off the golden locks! I hope you can support the charity as it’s doing great things in the UK and is aiming to open three new centres over the next three years. This will help so many men who are in need of support!
“I will post the link to donate and some final hair pictures so you can all say your goodbyes!”
Davies has already raised £1,316 for James’ Place Charity at the time of writing, less than a day after he posted the link on his Instagram page.

Tom Davies really struggled to live up to expectations at Goodison Park after an unbelievable breakthrough in the Premier League.
Many supporters were baffled when he was offered a new contract and were content when he chose to leave. However, supporters will always have a soft spot for the midfielder who had spent so long with the club.
Davies was a great guy and has previously helped out with homeless charities too. It would be nice to see him get back to his best at Bramall Lane and help them stay up, though four months on the sidelined will put a huge dent in his hopes following his Merseyside exit.
