Liverpool now interested in signing one of the best player ‘in the world’

Liverpool reportedly have strong interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is expected to be on the move next summer.

According to journalist Valter De Maggio, the Reds are keeping tabs on the Nigerian international as Osimhen’s future with Napoli continues to be placed under the microscope.

The reigning Serie A Golden Boot holder had a public falling out with manager Rudi Garcia earlier this season, fueling speculation that Osimhen will be on the move in 2024.

And Liverpool are now interested in signing the former LOSC Lille star, even though the Reds have arguably the best selection of attackers out of any top side in Europe.

De Maggio said about Liverpool’s interest in the Napoli superstar: “There is strong, strong interest from Liverpool in Victor Osimhen.

“It will be necessary to understand whether the Reds will put pressure on Osimhen’s agent to not renew his contract.”

Osimhen to Liverpool makes little sense on paper

Lauded by CNN as one of the best players ‘in the world’, it makes sense why Liverpool would have an interest in Osimhen. Though when you take a step back from the situation, more questions begin to arise.

As we know, Liverpool have an incredible selection of attackers, with Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo all able to lead the line.

And with defence a more glaring issue for Liverpool heading into 2024, signing Osimhen makes little sense for Jurgen Klopp’s side, despite how good the forward is.
