Alex Crook shares whether Everton will receive appeal outcome ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Alex Crook has shared that Everton are unlikely to receive the outcome of their points deduction appeal ahead of the clash with Crystal Palace on 19 February.

However, the talkSPORT journalist did update fans that they are likely to hear the verdict before the end of the week, although the club have not been given any notice yet.

Crook also insisted upon the importance of a win against Palace, with Sean Dyche’s men having not picked up three points since 16 December with their form beginning to dip.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [07:15], Crook detailed: “It’s a massive week for Everton on and off the pitch. This feels like a huge game, they’ve not won since 16 December.

“We are anticipating the verdict of the independent panel in terms of their appeal against that ten-point penalty. I don’t think it would happen today, on a match day, and certainly, Everton haven’t been given any notice that that’s the case. It should happen by the end of the week.”

It was originally suggested that the Goodison Park side could hear the result of their appeal ahead of the Palace clash, but that opportunity now looks to have passed, with the decision unlikely to be revealed ahead of the game.

Everton will have made their points clear during the appeal, and will hope to receive at least some of the ten deducted points back which could make all the difference in the relegation fight come the end of the season.

The clash with Crystal Palace at Goodison Park is a true relegation six-pointer. If Dyche’s side come out with all three points they will cut the cap to Palace to just two points, and with the appeal verdict to follow shortly, could leapfrog the Eagles by the end of the week.

Palace, meanwhile, are going through their own issues, with the conversation around Roy Hodgson’s future still rumbling on, with Oliver Glasner expected to take the reins, and the Goodison Park clash could be Hodgson’s last appearance as their manager.
