Tottenham Hotspur fans told to appreciate 26-year-old player more

Paul Merson has praised Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, noting that he is going under the radar because of the form of James Maddison.

Guglielmo Vicario joined Tottenham Hotspur from Empoli in the summer transfer window.

Vicario has established himself as the number one goalkeeper for Tottenham.

James Maddison moved to Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer of 2023.

The England international attacking midfielder has hit the ground running at Tottenham and has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.

The 26-year-old playmaker has scored two goals and given two assists in five Premier League matches for Spurs so far this season.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario

Former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit Merson has said that Tottenham fans need to appreciate 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper Vicario more.

Merson wrote in SportsKeeda: “Earlier this month, Burnley had 16 shots against Tottenham and scored twice despite losing 5-2.

“If Spurs adopt a similar brand of football against Arsenal, I’m afraid to say it won’t end well for them.

“Guglielmo Vicario deserves a shot for slotting in between the posts for Tottenham – I’d say he’s gone under the radar a little bit as James Maddison has stolen the show at the start of the season.”

Guglielmo Vicario will be massive for Tottenham v Arsenal

In our view, Guglielmo Vicario will be a big player for Tottenham Hotspur against Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.

Arsenal have a very good attacking unit, and we expect the Gunners to have lots of shots at the Tottenham goal.

Vicario will have to rise to the occasion.

As Merson notes, Vicario has been superb for Spurs so far this season and has been a safe pair of hands.

Tottenham fans will hope that the 26-year-old Italian star turns on the style against Arsenal in the North London derby.
