Ange Postecoglou makes Son Heung-min claim
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou heaped praise on Son Heung-min after the South Korea international scored two goals against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. Speaking at his post-match press conference, the former Celtic manager said: “He’s been outstanding as a leader and as a player.
“We have put him in that nine position now and he just works so hard. He is so team-first orientated, it is just incredible. His first thought is what is best for the team and when he puts himself in those positions then has the quality to finish. I thought Madders was outstanding with both assist and Sonny was there to finish them off. Pleased for him because he’s really invested in what we’re doing. A lot of the team environment I talk about is driven by him and Madders and Romero, then guys like Bissouma out on the field so it is great he is getting his reward.”
Brennan Johnson injury
Tottenham star Brennan Johnson suffered a hamstring injury during the North London Derby clash against Arsenal. The Wales international had to be replaced by Manor Solomon in the second half after receiving treatment on the pitch.
Johnson was signed from Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window for a fee of £47.5million. The 22-year-old looked to have pulled his hamstring as he sprinted back towards his own goal which may see him sidelined for a number of weeks depending on the severity of the issue.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has praised Ange Postecoglou while also aiming a subtle dig at former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte. Speaking after the 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium, Carragher told Sky Sports: “I know it’s a bit of a cliche but everyone says it, he’s been a breath of fresh air for them.
“I think a manager like Conte, not everyone is going to like him whereas with Postecoglou, people are loving him. They want him to do well even if they don’t support Spurs and I think that was a big result for them today, showing its not a flash-in-the-pan first few weeks.”
