Tottenham should sign him’: Sky pundit urges Daniel Levy to secure transfer of ‘tremendous’ player
‘Jamie O’Hara wants Tottenham Hotspur to sign Brighton and Hove Albion’s rising star, Evan Ferguson.
The former Tottenham midfielder thinks if the London club, who are led by Daniel Levy at the top, ‘had anything about them’, then they would go ‘all out’ in 2024 to sign the 18-year-old, who recently scored a Premier League hat-trick for Brighton.
Only a select few can put themselves on that list, well, after Evan Ferguson’s hat-trick downed Newcastle United at the weekend, it sent a message to the Premier League, with O’Hara comparing the striker to Harry Kane, as he told Sky Sports.
Brighton have proven before, even to Spurs, that they are a selling club, with their most recent sale of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea bringing in £100 million+.
That’s for a defensive-minded midfielder, so it’s scary to think what the Europa League side would demand for a goalscorer – Alan Shearer thinks he will leave sooner rather than later.
You would think that the more goals that Ferguson scores, from now until the end of the season, only increases his value, not forgetting that he recently signed a new contract
“I think he is tremendous,” said O’Hara. “I have been talking about him for a couple of years now. He is absolutely sensational. He has got everything.
“He reminds me of Harry Kane, when he was 18, but better. Kane wasn’t even playing in the Premier League at 18. He is very much in the mould of Harry Kane. I think he is another £80-100 million player.
“I don’t know where Brighton keep digging these players out from. It’s absolutely ridiculous. They have Mitoma who is worth £100 million. They now have Ferguson who is worth £100 million.
“If Tottenham had anything about them. They would go all out, next summer, and sign Ferguson, for whatever it takes. If you want to replace Harry Kane, then you sign Ferguson. We know Brighton sell. Tottenham should go and sign him. He is the future of the Premier League.”
Will Daniel Levy put the money down?
That’s the million-dollar question. Brighton will, no doubt, want £100 million+ for the player, don’t be surprised if it’s closer to £200 million.
But in Tottenham’s world, which is run by Levy, you just can’t see the club’s chairman breaking a possible world-record transfer for Ferguson’s signature.
Plus, if the Republic of Ireland international ends up scoring close to 20 goals this season, then he probably isn’t going to end up at Tottenham, but a title-winning team or one that can win the title.
