Former Preston North End star Daniel Iversen missed out on a late move from Leicester City to Crystal Palace before the transfer deadline.
PNE have been blessed with a number of fine goalkeepers in recent years.
Jordan Pickford, Sam Johnstone and current stopper Freddie Woodman spring to mind, but so does Danish stopper Iversen.
Signed on loan from Leicester back in January 2021, Iversen ended up spending 18 months at Deepdale.

Both fans and players voted Iversen as PNE’s Player of the Year in 2022 but North End sadly couldn’t bring him back again.
That sparked the move for Woodman and whilst North End fans loved Iversen, first-team action at Leicester was hard to come by.

New Leicester boss Enzo Maresca doesn’t appear to fancy Iversen having signed another Danish stopper this summer in Mads Hermansen.
Iversen isn’t even on the bench these days with Ward the second-choice stopper, leaving the former PNE star completely out of the picture.
Iversen maybe isn’t the best goalkeeper in terms of distribution and that is a key factor for Maresca.
Leicester have made Iversen available this summer and Tips Bladet over in his native Denmark report that a move to Crystal Palace nearly materialised.
They claim that Palace offered ‘a considerable amount’ for Iversen but Leicester rejected the offer.
Palace then turned to Dean Henderson and completed a deal for the Manchester United stopper, leaving Iversen stuck at Leicester as the deadline struck.
Iversen almost challenged another former PNE stopper
We mentioned Johnstone earlier and it’s quite incredible that Iversen nearly joined Palace to serve as his competition.
Johnstone – who was born in Preston and won promotion with PNE in 2015 – has started the season as Palace’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Vicente Guaita’s rather public row with the club meant Roy Hodgson needed another stopper and Iversen was viewed as the ideal competition for Johnstone.
Seeing two ex-PNE goalkeepers battle it out in the Premier League would have been quite something, but Iversen must instead hope to land a move away from Leicester elsewhere in January 2024.
