Theo Walcott has shrugged off Tottenham Hotspur and their form to start the new season under Ange Postecoglou.
Former Arsenal ace Theo Walcott has reminded Tottenham Hotspur fans that it is ‘early days’ under new boss Ange Postecoglou.
Walcott has been on punditry duty today with his former club Arsenal in action against Manchester United.
Walcott will be delighted having seen Arsenal secure a 3-1 win with late goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus.
When the post-match conversation turned to discussing who would be happy with their start to the season, Micah Richards raved about Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have been impressive under Postecoglou and now have three wins in a row whilst playing some superb football.
Walcott – unsurprisingly – wasn’t having it and laughed it off, suggesting that it’s ‘early days’ for Tottenham under Postecoglou.
The former Arsenal man was never particularly popular with Spurs fans in his playing days, infamously reminding Tottenham of a 2-0 scoreline as he was being stretchered off in 2014.
Walcott suggested that Tottenham fans get too excited too quickly and we will have to see how they fare against a ‘proper team’ as he looked around the Emirates Stadium.
“It’s early days, it’s early days… it’s early days for Tottenham,” said Walcott. “I always feel that they get quite excited quite quickly with new managers and new ideas and, it’s fine, yes, they are playing nice right now but when they come up against a proper team…” he added.
Walcott is just playing up to his role as a pantomime villain to Tottenham fans but host David Jones was surprised, responding by saying ‘that’s quite dismissive!”

Tottenham and Arsenal are level on points right now, both taking 10 points from the first four Premier League games.
Spurs fans are very excited about ‘Angeball’ with Postecoglou’s attacking football earning huge praise.
Only Brighton and Hove Albion have scored more goals in the Premier League than Tottenham so far this season.
Even without Harry Kane, Tottenham fans are absolutely loving life under Postecoglou.
Postecoglou will face his biggest challenge yet though as Tottenham travel to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium three weeks today.
Win there and Walcott may be left to eat his words, but that game will tell us a lot about where Tottenham really are in their development under Postecoglou.
