Tottenham’s pursuit of Brennan Johnson appears far from straightforward amid reports they are looking at other options.
The Nottingham Forest striker has attracted interest from both Spurs and Brentford, with the Bees having a £43m bid rejected for the 22 year old Wales international. Tottenham’s interest has also been well documented but latest reports suggest Ange Postecoglou’s side are prepared to look elsewhere because they don’t want to meet Forest’s valuation.
The Independent reports Spurs could instead improve their forward line by making a move for Barcelona’s Ansu Fati or Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace. The report says they are already talking to Barcelona about Fati but Eze might be too expensive.

Johnson was left out of Forest’s starting line up for last night’s Carabao Cup tie at home to Burnley but manager Steve Cooper insisted there was nothing to read into that. The striker’s omission was one of seven changes and he did come off the bench in the 1-0 defeat.
Cooper said: “You could see some of the other changes we made. It’s a three-game week, and it’s a Wednesday-Saturday. Some of the changes were forced. Danilo is injured, as is Orel (Mangala). Joe (Worrall) was suspended. Some of the changes we had to make, others we felt would benefit the game tonight and the squad for the week.”
The transfer deadline is at 11pm on Friday. Forest return to action on Saturday when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
