Everton transfer news as Conor Gallagher update emerges at Chelsea, summer move on cards

Chelsea do not have much control over the next club of Everton-linked Conor Gallagher should his contract remain unresolved.

That is according to The Telegraph, with the publication reporting on its website on Tuesday (13 February) that his transfer value is falling.

7 Biggest DOWNGRADES In Football History
The Telegraph added that Chelsea have encouraged deals with the likes of Everton and Fulham over the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle United.

“Tottenham Hotspur are to make a move for Conor Gallagher at the end of the season if the midfielder has still not agreed a new contract with Chelsea,” according to The Telegraph.

“And Chelsea face a “nightmare” dilemma over a player who could have left in the last three transfer windows. According to one expert, the 24-year-old’s transfer value is falling as his contract runs towards its final 12 months, but his salary profile is increasing.

“Chelsea may also find they cannot be so choosy over Gallagher’s potential destination should his contract remain unresolved, having previously encouraged deals with the likes of Everton, West Ham United, Fulham and Brighton, ahead of Spurs and Newcastle United.”

Everton to target Gallagher?
It is undoubtedly a long shot, but the Toffees could look to sign Chelsea ace Gallagher in the summer transfer window.

But it does seem unlikely, primarily due to the financial issues that the Goodison Park club are currently experiencing.

Moreover, they are seemingly competing with a long list of Premier League clubs for the signature of the England ace, while they are in very real danger of being relegated.

And finally, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino may be very reluctant to lose the midfield star, who has been shining for the Blues this season.

The 24-year-old boasts three goals and six assists from his 32 appearances in all competitions, having netted a brace in the 3-1 win against Crystal Palace on Monday (12 February).

Gallagher has been in fine form for Chelsea this season
It was a joyous return to Selhurst Park for the midfield star, who previously shone on a loan spell there from Stamford Bridge. His next destination remains unknown, but there is every chance that he pens a new Chelsea deal.
