Ex-Everton Scout predicts outcome of appeal hearing, ‘ridiculous’ verdict shared
Everton will not be successful in their appeal against their Premier League 10-point deduction, according to former Toffees scout Bryan King.
The Goodison Park club were handed the punishment earlier this season for breaching the competition’s financial rules.
The appeal hearing began on Wednesday (31 January), with an outcome expected to be revealed by mid-February [BBC Sport, 30 January].
When asked if he thinks the appeal will be successful, King told Goodison News: “No. If it is, then it’s ridiculous what has just gone on. Either they are found guilty or they’re not.
“This is not a bank robbery or anything of this nature, it’s the fair play about the way the clubs are run. And the way Everton have been run in the last two years is a shambles.
“I’ve just spoken to Joe Royle, and as we always say, the most important thing in a football club, and Everton have not succeeded in it in the last two years, has been recruitment. Their recruitment has been shocking.
“There is still something going on about maybe losing more points. They’ve got to show the supporters that they are not going to accept it, because obviously the supporters are still on the fringe of ‘who do we blame at Everton for this?’
“Then all of a sudden they’re appealing because now they haven’t done anything wrong. They’ve already admitted it once.”
Unsurprisingly, there has been plenty of discussion from various parties about the ongoing situation involving the Merseyside club.
Tory MP Dame Caroline Dinenage has recently raised her voice, while BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone has made a prediction regarding the Toffees and indeed Nottingham Forest following the recent charges handed to the Premier League duo.
