Serie A side Roma continue their hunt for adding new attacking flair to their squad as the name of Romelu Lukaku comes up.

According to a report by Il Tempo, Roma are using time as leverage to potentially land Romelu Lukaku as sporting director Tiago Pinto remains interested in signing him.

The wantaway Belgian is still in Chelsea’s squad due to a lack of agreement with previous suitors like Juventus, Tottenham and his former club Inter. Spurs are still interested in signing the striker but they are contemplating whether an investment would prove profitable for them.

The Giallorossi know that a series of contacts have to be established before progressing for such a signing but they have a plan in place. The Blues will be forced to register Lukaku if no other financially affluent club approaches them before the 31st of this month and Roma are looking to make the advancement in the late hours of the transfer window. Should negotiations happen, the Italian club would be able to get the player’s parent club to cover a big portion of his salary and decide on a loan or permanent deal.

At the same time, La Gazzetta dello Sport have stated that club CEO Lina Souloukou will be in London soon and she could speak to Chelsea about the Belgian.
