‘What a player’: Sky pundit lauds ‘explosive’ Englishman Tottenham could bid for

Stephen Warnock has waxed-lyrical about Tottenham Hotspur transfer target and Crystal Palace star, Eberechi Eze.

The former Premier League defender stated that Eberechi Eze has an ‘arrogance in the right way’ to his game and ‘what a talent’ he is.

The 25-year-old scored ten goals in the Premier League last season, and at the weekend, he helped Crystal Palace beat Sheffield United, with Warnock describing his performance as ‘magnificent’, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.

That’s probably why Tottenham, who appointed the attack-minded Ange Postecoglou this summer, want to take him on board – they could bid for the Englishman after selling Harry Kane.

Given that Michael Olise, who was linked with Chelsea this summer, has just signed a new Palace contract, then you would think those at Selhurst Park would back themselves in keeping Eze.

Either way, Warnock lauded the former QPR star’s talents and how he has found that ‘explosive’ nature to his game again.

“Eze was just magnificent,” said Warnock. “What a talent. What a player. You watch him on the ball and that confidence, I say it’s arrogance, but arrogance in the right way.

“An arrogance where it’s ‘give me the ball’. A real belief and understanding that he has grown as a player.

“The injury that he picked up a few years ago, which was the Achilles injury, it took him a while to get over.

“But now when you look at him, he looks explosive again. He has bulked up as a player. Players are bouncing off him. I think it’s one of those seasons if they can keep hold of Eze, because there are people sniffing around, then it will be rightly a good season for Palace.”

Eze would cook under Postecoglou’s style
Yes, Spurs have James Maddison, but they can’t rely on him because he is the only player at the club who can do what he does – Glenn Hoddle raved about him previously.

But bringing in someone like Eze would take the quality levels of this European-chasing Spurs side to higher levels.

Under Postecoglou’s style, those ten goals Eze hit last season would increase, including his chances of hitting double figures in both goals and assists.
