Latest Tottenham injury news as seven miss Man United amid Cristian Romero wait
Tottenham injury news: The latest from the Spurs treatment room ahead of Saturday’s Premier League visit of Man Utd, with concern for Cristian Romer
Tottenham will be hoping to have Cristian Romero back for Saturday evening’s Premier League clash against Manchester United
The Argentine defender was involved in a head collision with Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo early on in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Thomas Frank’s side. Romero went on to open the scoring in west London before suffering from after-effects.
Ange Postecoglou decided to take Romero off following a VAR check for his goal, despite the player appearing to insist he was fine to carry on. He was replaced by Davinson Sanchez.
“He got a head knock and it was pretty clear,” the Spurs boss said. “The medical team were monitoring him as he progressed from there and then he scored with his head. They were pretty sure we needed for his own benefit to get him off and obviously what we know about head injuries, for me it is not even an issue. We will always err on the side of caution.
“Cristian, the player is not the one you listen to in those situation because he doesn’t know what is going either, so I thought it was pretty clear what we had to do. Disappointed that we apparently filled out the wrong slip and it was not a concussion sub.
“In this day and age where what we know about head injuries, if we are going to worry about what form we fill out, I thought it was pretty clear what happened but hopefully he’ll be okay.”

Midfielder Yves Bissouma started from the off having struggled for fitness in pre-season. There was, however, no place for Tanguy Ndombele, who has been a consistent fitness concern since his return from loan at Napoli.
Elsewhere, Rodrigo Bentancur (knee) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) remain out. Fraser Forster is recovering from a back injury and Bryan Gil has had surgery, keeping him out for the foreseeable future.
Troy Parrott and Alfie Whiteman are also out while there was a boost for Dane Scarlett, who scored the final goal of the game, after he had been struggling during the summer.
