Klopp takes matters into his own hands as he eyes signing of ‘perfect’ player
Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is one of many Liverpool targets as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his midfield department during the closing weeks of the transfer window.
Having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, the Reds have a list of alternative options and Gravenberch is one of them.
According to German journalist Manuel Bonke, the future of the Netherlands international was recently discussed intensively. Although the original plan was for the midfielder not to give up on his spell at Bayern, he has had a hard time under the coaching of Thomas Tuchel and it is said that Klopp is now ‘digging at him’ over an Anfield switch.
Labelled by Fabrizio Romano as the ‘perfect’ signing for Liverpool, Gravenberch has made just 33 appearances for the German giants. He has scored one goal and assisted another since his move from Ajax last summer.
The 21-year-old made his international debut in 2021 and has since been capped 11 times, scoring once in that time.
It is no secret that the Reds are desperate for reinforcements in the middle of the park having lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Pro League sides Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad in recent weeks, so the fact that Gravenberch has once again appeared on Liverpool’s shortlist is not a surprise.
Who has been linked besides Gravenberch?
Klopp’s side have already moved for Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo, he is having his medical today, but there are a handful of other players who have been heavily linked with the club in recent days.
Fluminense’s Andre Trindade was mentioned on Tuesday, Joao Palhinha and Cheick Doucoure were both thrown into the frame yesterday, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone has appeared as a target this morning amongst others.
It is safe to say that it appears the Reds are bound to strengthen their midfield, but just who will be walking through those Anfield doors come September 1st remains to be seen.
