‘I don’t understand’: Tim Sherwood reacts to ‘huge transfer blow’ for Liverpool
Tim Sherwood says Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea is a ‘huge blow’.
The former Premier League title-winner added that he ‘doesn’t understand’ the price-tag that is on Romeo Lavia’s head, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports News (15/08/23 at 7:10 pm).
It seems as though if the Lavia-Chelsea move is agreed, then the London club will be paying £58 million for the former Manchester City star, as reported by Sky Sports.
Nonetheless, Sherwood shared his thoughts on it all, as he seemingly suggested that Lavia isn’t worth the price being put on the table for him.
“I thought years ago, all the money was for the number nine, but it’s now for the number six,” said Sherwood.
“Lavia, I don’t understand the price-tag. I really don’t. I think he has played a limited amount of games.
“Yes, he is a talent. But all the money seems to be going to all these sitting players. Liverpool certainly need one. It’s a huge blow that they haven’t been able to take one of them (Caicedo and Lavia).”
The Reds only have themselves to blame because they should have acted quicker to sign the above two players.
They haven’t and are now being punished for it, with Chelsea and their wad of cash persuading Lavia and Caicedo to join them, instead.
That means that the Merseyside giants need to think outside the box regarding who they sign during these coming weeks.
