Tottenham could turn to an unlikely source to replace Harry Kane – Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, at least according to a new report in Italy.
It would combine two of the ongoing transfer sagas in the British game this summer. Kane is possibly joining Bayern Munich in a money-spinning deal, while the Belgian’s future is uncertain after a season on loan from the Blues at Inter Milan.
With Spurs set to net about £100m for the sale of the England captain, they would have the budget to enter into the market for a new striker, and it might also offer Lukaku an opportunity that seems to be lacking at Stamford Bridge.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Tottenham could turn to Lukaku to replace Kane, if the Englishman’s transfer to Bayern does go through.
Tottenham would look for a replacement No. 9 in Kane’s absence. Alejo Veliz, 19, is expected to be a talent for the future, while they could also buy Porto’s Mehdi Taremi for £26m, or Genk’s Gift Orban.
