“Rrahmani Eyes Success with Rapid Bucharest Despite Transfer Rumors”
Rangers should be cautious as they consider intensifying their pursuit of one of their transfer targets in the coming weeks. Any offers below £3.5 million will likely be rejected, as the player’s current club is seeking more than £5 million.
If Albion Rrahmani can replicate his prolific form from Kosovo and Romania in Glasgow, spending £5 million on him would be worthwhile. Rrahmani won the Golden Boot with Ballkani in 2023 before moving to Rapid Bucharest, where he scored 19 goals in 30 matches.
Last season, Rangers struggled with a reliable centre-forward. Cyriel Dessers, though eager, was often wasteful, and Danilo missed much of the season due to injury. Additionally, Abdallah Sima and Fabio Silva left after their loan deals ended.
Rangers are interested in Rapid Bucharest striker Albion Rrahmani, who might be key to closing the gap with their rivals Celtic. If Rrahmani delivers, the £5 million investment could be one of the best Rangers have made in years.
Rapid Bucharest president Viorel Moldovan confirmed to Orange Sport that they received an offer for Rrahmani, but it was insufficient. Moldovan emphasized Rrahmani’s importance to the team and their reliance on him to achieve their goals.
Though Moldovan did not disclose the offer details, Golazo reported it was £3.5 million from Slavia Prague, one of Rangers’ main competitors for Rrahmani. While Rangers began discussions with Rrahmani’s camp two weeks ago, the only serious offer so far has come from Slavia Prague.
Despite the imminent arrival of Hamza Igamane from RAF Rabat for around £1.7 million, reports suggest Rangers might need two new centre-forwards if Dessers leaves for Greece. Thus, they could sign both Rrahmani and Igamane instead of choosing between them.
Rrahmani remained reserved when discussing his future this week, emphasizing his current focus on Rapid as the club prepares for pre-season under former Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
“I am ready, we want to give our best in the training camp,” Rrahmani told Digi Sport.
“I didn’t have a very long vacation, but I relaxed and feel great physically. My initial interaction with Neil Lennon was positive.
“We have high expectations for next season and a strong team. If we avoid further bad luck, I believe we can win a trophy.
“I’m still here and committed to preparing with Rapid. I’m not disappointed about not leaving yet; I’m a professional and give 100% wherever I am.”
