Romeo Lavia’s camp pushing to complete Liverpool move today

Liverpool are “so close” to signing Romeo Lavia with the Reds said to have “made a huge effort” to bring the 19-year-old to Anfield.

On Monday evening, journalist Sacha Tavolieir reported on the club’s chase of Lavia, stating that “talks will continue” with Southampton over a fee.

He reports: “Just been told talks will continue as Romeo Lavia’s side makes clear the fact they want to sign for Liverpool FC this summer.

“There’s a feeling that the deal’s so close now that it would a big waste to end up at £45M, bonus included.

“LFC considers they already made a huge effort & are now evaluating the situation as written earlier.

Ben Jacobs claims Liverpool have already made a fourth bid but with none of the usual journalists with the closest ties to Liverpool not corroborating the story, it may not be true.

But today, Sacha Tavolieri brings an exciting update. He claims that the player’s entourage is looking to push a deal through today.

He writes on Twitter: ” Roméo Lavia not included today on the Cup game with Saints FC and was not at the training camp this morning.

“Player’s side looking for closing the deal today between Liverpool FC.”

Liverpool will hopefully be able to complete a deal before the Premier League starts this weekend. It’s not ideal to be going into the start of the season without a specialist holding midfielder.

Even then, Lavia is only 19 and so Klopp will be unable to ask too much of him. Nor should that much responsibility rest on a player that has played a single season of senior football.

The step-up from Southampton will see him develop further but it will also be very demanding so expectations over his initial impact need to be lowered.

He’s a thrilling player and should gel well with the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai given their technical ability.
