Transfer of Liverpool linked prospect set to be announced, he’s been compared to Salah – Romano
Reported Liverpool transfer target Adama Bojang is set to be announced as a new Stade de Reims player.
Bojang took the U20 World Cup by storm earlier this summer, leading to claims that the likes of Liverpool were hot on his trail.
But despite the interest of some notable sides, the 19-year-old has decided to move to Ligue 1, with Reims. Reporting on Twitter today, journalist Fabrizio Romano says the announcement of the deal is ‘imminent.’
Adama Bojang
“Gambian talent Adama Bojang has got his VISA — he has just landed in France with his agents Cherno Samba & Sascha Empacher, going straight to complete his medical,” said the journalist earlier today.
“His announcement as new Reims player is imminent, done deal and here we go confirmed.”
Bojang set to sign for Reims
If Bojang is as good as he’s being billed to be, then this could be quite the coup for Reims. All being well, they may move the Gambian on for big money in the future.
He was brilliant by all accounts in the recent U20 World Cup, firing unfancied Gambia into the knockout stages. On the back of the tournament his agent even said Bojang could become just as good as a certain Mohamed Salah.
This made the world sit up and notice, with Liverpool said to be one of the sides to have had their attention piqued.
How far the Reds went with their interest will perhaps never be known. But you can put good money on them keeping an eye on the teenager as he settles into life in France.
Do well there, and the big guns of Europe will more than likely come knocking again.
In the meantime, Liverpool are still keeping tabs on a number of other promising young players. They’re reportedly in discussions with Trey Nyoni of Leicester City and Amara Nallo of West Ham. The Reds are also claimed to have made enquiries over the availability of Hamilton youngster Ryan One.
So, they may have missed out on Bojang for now, but Liverpool still have plenty of irons in the fire. Meanwhile, they won’t forgot about this one that got away.
