Jurgen Klopp now looking at making two new signings after Liverpool injury news hit
Jurgen Klopp has increased the urgency of his new signing search, after Alexis Mac Allister picked up a knock mid-week.
Hearts were in mouths for Liverpool fans on Wednesday, as Mac Allister went down clutching his knee during the friendly with Bayern Munich.
Thankfully, it doesn’t look like being anything serious for the 24-year-old. Nevertheless, we still don’t know the true nature of the issue. As a result, journalist Miguel Delaney reports in his Reading The Game newsletter that Klopp is accelerating his search for additions.

It’s claimed that the Liverpool boss would ideally like two new midfielders brought in before the deadline. The potential issue with Mac Allister has only ‘sharpened’ that feeling.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any movement worth reporting on for now. As is by now common knowledge, the Reds are said to have been ‘frustrated’ during negotiations with Southampton for Romeo Lavia. Meanwhile Andre Trindade is also confirmed to be on their radar.
Mac Allister injury sharpens Klopp focus
Thankfully, it doesn’t look as though Mac Allister’s knock will rule him out of any significant game time for Liverpool.
It may be that the Argentine doesn’t feature against Darmstadt on Monday. However, all being well, it seems likely that he’ll still be involved for next Sunday’s trip to face Chelsea.
Nevertheless, the whole situation should have re-sharpened Klopp’s focus. The truth is that if Mac Allister, or any other midfielder, gets injured now, we’re stuck.
With Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara expected back in training this weekend, things are getting better in that respect. But neither Spaniard has played much at all since March.
As a result, there are currently four options available to Klopp for Chelsea. There’s no wiggle-room at all.
Something has to happen soon. It’s clear that Southampton aren’t budging on the £50m they want for Lavia. Liverpool can’t afford to waste anymore time with that. Either pay up or go elswhere.
It’s been billed as big summer for the Reds, but so far they haven’t lived up to that enough. It shouldn’t take a potential injury to a new signing for Klopp and co to see that, but here we are.
