Everton believe ‘outstanding’ £100k-a-week star can become even better than £115m talent

Everton have found a gem in midfielder Amadou Onana, and the club are fully aware of how high his potential is.

The Belgian International has been a standout player since his arrival from Lille last year, and at 22, he is only going to get better.

In fact, people within the club believe that Onana will match, or even surpass Moises Caicedo in terms of ability.

Caicedo became the most expensive British transfer in history when Chelsea paid Brighton £115m for him this summer, but Everton believe that Onana could become even better.

A report from the Liverpool Echo has now revealed that Everton have such high hopes for Onana that their expectation is the midfielder becomes even better than Caicedo.

“Everton believe he can become as good as – or even better – than Moises Caicedo, who went from Brighton & Hove Albion to Chelsea for a British record £115million fee in August but this intelligent polyglot who speaks five languages also needs to let his football do the talking,” the report claimed.

The midfielder was described as “outstanding” by Darren Bent as he delivered a man-of-the-match performance in a victory over Arsenal, and he has delivered some exceptional performances in his time at Goodison Park.

Onana is perfectly suited to Sean Dyche’s tough-tackling style of play, and brings physicality and strong technique to the middle of the park.

The £100k-per-week midfielder has proven to be an excellent purchase for the club, and it is now down to Everton to make sure they can maximise his development and keep hold of him for the long term.

Onana’s potential is so high, that when he grows older and develops further, he can become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and would definitely be involved in conversations alongside the likes of Caicedo in the future.
