Tottenham Expert predicts Eric Dier to miss out against Brighton amid ‘incredibly frustrating’ development
John Wenham believes Eric Dier will be overlooked by Ange Postecoglou when Tottenham travel to Brighton despite the “incredibly frustrating” injury issues at the club.
This leaves a spot open on the right side of Spurs’ back-two, and although Dier is one of the club’s few senior centre-backs who are fit and available, Wenham still believes he will be left out.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I was expecting us to go to Brighton and win on Thursday and really cement ourselves as a top-four side and begin to clear a huge amount of space between ourselves and Newcastle United, Brighton and Manchester United.
“However, it will be tough. We’re going to be looking at a back four against Brighton with Ben Davies as the left-sided centre back, and Emerson Royal on the right. I don’t see Postecoglou turning to Eric Dier considering he really hasn’t picked him very much.
“Of course, we will have Destiny Udogie back and available again after his suspension, but it really does feel like we are just constantly filling in the gaps.
“We never have people playing in their natural positions, and it just goes on and on.
“I’ve never seen anything like this type of luck, and it’s incredibly frustrating.”
