Liverpool midfielder makes surprise loan transfer to Switzerland
Liverpool midfielder Dominic Corness will spend the season on loan in Switzerland after completing surprise transfer
Liverpool midfielder Dominic Corness will continue his development in Switzerland after agreeing a season-long loan move.
Corness will spend the forthcoming campaign – subject to international clearance – at Swiss Super League side Yverdon Sport, who were promoted to the top flight last term.
The 20-year-old has become the latest player to depart Liverpool on loan this summer, following Fabio Carvalho, Sepp van den Berg, Calvin Ramsay, Harvey Davies, Rhys Williams, Owen Beck, Anderson Arroyo and James Balagizi
Corness – who has earned the nickname ‘The Wand’ due to his ability to deliver dangerous set-pieces with his left foot – has been at the Academy since the age of five.
He has progressed through the ranks to become a regular with the under-21 side, for whom he was skipper during the second half of last season.
The midfielder signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in February 2021 before penning an extension last November.
Corness has skippered the Reds in the UEFA Youth League and has also featured in the EFL Trophy, as well as in the first-team friendlies against Lyon and AC Milan last December.
