‘Unlikely’ to be at Tottenham next season, the £32 million player started the friendly yesterday.

It is still ‘unlikely’ that Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon will be with the club next season despite the starting XI from yesterday’s pre-season friendly.

That’s according to The Athletic, with the outlet providing an update on Reguilon’s future at Spurs. The 7 greatest centre-backs since 2000Reguilon has just returned from a one-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid and will be eager to impress Ange Postecoglou.

It’s fair to say the Spaniard didn’t have an ideal start as Spurs suffered a 3-2 loss to West Ham in Perth yesterday. The 26-year-old looked good up front as he was tasked with breaking through midfield under Postecoglou’s new system.

But he struggled to cope with the threat from Jarrod Bowen and looked shaky defensively when he was caught on West Ham’s opening goal.He is heavily linked with a move from Tottenham after a disappointing loan spell at Madrid last season.

And while Postecoglou is clearly keen to take a closer look at Reguilon, it looks like he’s likely to move on this summer.Reguilon unlikely to stay at TottenhamAthletic report that Reguilon is ‘unlikely’ to play for Tottenham next season.

It’s worth noting that his performance in yesterday’s friendly wouldn’t have done much to dispel doubts about his ability to play under Postecoglou.

The Spaniard joined Spurs in 2020 when he made a £32m transfer from Real Madrid. He arrived after a brilliant loan spell at Sevilla and looked set to become Tottenham’s left-back. But his time in north London hasn’t worked out so far and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him leave this summer.

Destiny Udogie has also finally arrived at Tottenham having signed for the club last summer and the Italian impressed after replacing Reguilon yesterday.
