Bielsa and Carragher agree on Tottenham star
Uruguay manager Marcelo Bielsa has heaped praise on Rodrigo Bentancur after his side defeated Bolivia 3-0. The Spurs midfielder impressed throughout the match, creating one big chance, winning eight duels and registering three interceptions, as per Sofascore.
“He is a player that it is difficult to find an area of the midfield that he is not in a position to assume,” Bielsa said of Bentancur as per El Observador. “Thereare not many players who defend like a holding midfielder, who attack and defend like an interior, like a number 8, like a mixed midfielder, and that when they reach the rival area he has the resources, the qualities of an offensive midfielder.”
Jamie Carragher has previously echoed Bielsa’s sentiment on Bentancur. Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Liverpool defender said: “Great to see Bentancur. He was brilliant during his start with Tottenham and you can see the affection the fans have for him. If he can get back to anything near his best that will definitely improve this Tottenham team.”

Udogie lifts the lid
Destiny Udogie has revealed his first interaction with Ange Postecoglou helped to motivate him for life at Tottenham. Speaking to The Athletic, the defender said: “The first day I came in, he called me to speak with him and he told me I’m a key player for him.
“He explained what he wanted from me and knowing I had the trust of the head coach was a big motivation. In the beginning, playing as an inverted full-back was a bit different because I was a wing-back. As a wing-back, I’m just on the side, but playing partly in midfield you have to be aware of what’s going on behind you.
“You have to be ready before you receive the ball. You have to know what is behind you and in front of you and what you’re going to do. So it’s a bit like being a midfielder. In the beginning, I was operating close to the wing. But step by step, I move more inside, and feel more secure. It’s going well. I’m enjoying it.”

Davies drops tactics hint
Ben Davies has suggested that Tottenham may not play as high a line against Aston Villa as they did against Chelsea before the international break. In an interview with the Daily Mail, the Spurs defender said: “That’s not what we were trying to achieve.
“‘But when you’ve got nine men you’ll try anything and, for a period of time, that was working. You just try to find a way to win. You’ve always got a chance the higher up you are. When you’re doing well the first sign of any sort of wobble will get people excited.
“They want to see how you react. There’s still a load of games left and it’s up to us to put it right. We’re confident we can do that. If we focus on the next game we’ll hopefully be there or thereabouts.”
