West Ham United could now sign ‘aggressive’ player for £60m
David Moyes’s West Ham United are now actively trying to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham in the summer transfer window.
According to 90min, West Ham United have made a bid for Fulham defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.
The Hammers have offered London and Premier League rivals Fulham £45 million for Palhinha.
Fulham have turned it down.
The Cottagers are looking for £80 million for the 28-year-old Portugal international defensive midfielder, who is “aggressive” according to former Manchester United winger Nani in Antena1 in November 2020.
90min has claimed that despite Fulham valuing Palhinha at £80 million, “there’s a feeling that a deal is there to be done should the Hammers decide to stump a package worth £60m.”
West Ham United should pay £60m for Fulham star Joao Palhinha
In our opinion, if £60 million is what it would take for West Ham United to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham in the summer transfer window, then the Hammers should pay it.
It is as simple as that.
After all, West Ham are willing to cough up £45 million for the Portugal international defensive midfielder.
Just add the extra £15 million needed and get the deal done.
Let us not forget that West Ham are receiving at least £100 million from the sale of England international midfielder Declan Rice to London and Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer.
So West Ham have money to spend.
Palhinha is 28 now and is at the top of his game.
The Portuguese star did well for Fulham in the Premier League in 2022-23 and would be able to make an immediate impact at West Ham, who will play in the UEFA Europa League next season after winning the UEFA Europa Conference League last campaign.
Palhinha made 35 appearances in the Premier League for Fulham last season.
The Portugal international midfielder scored three goals in those games.
