‘Wonderful’ midfielder from abroad now on Liverpool’s list to replace Fabinho, as well as Lavia

Liverpool have Ryan Gravenberch on the list of names to replace Fabinho, should he leave the club this summer.

News broke this morning that the Brazilian is set to be the subject.

And while Romeo Lavia looks like being Liverpool’s main priority, 90min have also added Gravenberch into the mix to as a possible successor to Fabinho.

The Bayern Munich man has seemingly been on the Reds radar since the beginning of the summer. But after adding Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, that interest seemed to have cooled. However, if they do indeed lose Fabinho, 90min claims that Liverpool will once again ‘up’ their efforts to sign Gravenberch.

For the time being, it still isn’t certain that they will agree to sell their No.3 to the Saudi project. With the Reds said to be ‘contemplating’ the £40m offer though, they’re scrambling to get a back-up plan in place.

What a day this has been for Liverpool. And not necessarily in a good way, either.

Up until this point, the midfield rebuild had been chugging along smoothly. Two excellent new players added and a host of underperforming players shipped out on a free.

With the possibility of adding one more – probably Lavia – Liverpool looked well set for the start of the season.

In barely 24 hours though, that has all come crumbling down. If the Reds do end up losing both Henderson and Fabinho, it’s all hands to the pump again.

There are even still rumours that Thiago Alcantara could leave, with Barcelona circling their former player.

In that event, some of the players Liverpool sounded out earlier in the summer could come back to the fore. Gravenberch is one of those names, and with Bayern now supposedly open to letting him go, you could see something happening there.

How that news is greeted by Reds supporters remains to be seen. Although the 21-year-old has been described as a ‘wonderful’ player by Ruud Gullit [Sport Buzzer], he had a poor season and topped it off with a disappointing Euro U21 tournament. There may be better options out there, but Liverpool do seem to like the Dutchman.
