Andy Robertson what will happen in Liverpool’s pre-season next month
Andy Robertson has teased what Jurgen Klopp will be getting Liverpool players to do next month in pre-season, with the period expected to be crucial for the Reds.
Speaking to TalkSport, the Scottish international revealed that fitness and tactics will be the main areas of focus in pre-season as Liverpool look to get themselves in the best shape possible for the 2023/24 Premier League season, with the Anfield side looking to compete for the title.
Having finished fifth last year, Liverpool will be out to right the wrongs they made in the previous campaign by returning to their former best.
And Robertson has said that pre-season could be the start of the Merseyside giants getting back to the top of the English game.
Having changed system at the end of last season, this summer will be massive for Klopp in getting his new ideas across as well as incorporating new players into the team.
And for Robertson, pre-season will be the period that the squad finally gets their act back together.
The defender said: “Pre-season will be a big one. We have to get it right in terms of fitness and everything like that and get ourselves as ready as we can and tactically I’m sure we will be doing a lot of work as well to try and make us a better team and a team than can compete for the trophies we want to compete for.”
Liverpool’s pre-season could define their success for next year
A strong pre-season has the capacity to set a team up for an incredible campaign, and Liverpool will be hopeful that they get everything just right this summer as Klopp and company look to take the Anfield side back to the very top of the Premier League.
This summer is already shaping up to be the biggest in some years for Liverpool, and whilst transfer activity has been slow, more additions and players returning with the right mentality could give the Reds the boost needed to hit the ground running when professional football returns in August.
