Champions League star left amazed after facing 22-year-old Liverpool player

RB Salzburg prospect Oscar Gloukh has lauded Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones after facing the youngster in the U-21 Euros this summer.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the Israeli youth international praised the 22-year-old Anfield star after Gloukh named Jones as one of the best players at the tournament this year.

Jones was one of England’s most important players as the Three Lions won the entire competition without even conceding a goal, with the Liverpool star scoring the sole goal in the final.

Gloukh tonight will feature in the UEFA Champions Lague when Salzburg face Benfica, where the 19-year-old will seemingly have Jones on his mind.

The youngster said about the U-21 Euros: “It was special. The best I saw there, it was Curtis Jones and Angel Gomes. Both were playing as sixes and I think, against us, maybe they lost the ball once all game!

“They moved the ball, their positioning, they controlled the game. We didn’t touch the ball a lot. We were more defensive. But to see them, Premier League players, this is the level you want to go to, to get to. It was a good experience.”

At 19, Gloukh is easily one of the most exciting prospects in all of Europe, with the youngster likely to be one of the breakout stars in the Champions League this season.

And after the Israeli wonderkid’s comments on Jones, there’s every chance that Gloukh could soon find himself playing alongside the Liverpool man in the future.

Indeed, Liverpool are without question aware of Gloukh’s talents, and the Reds might soon make a move for the 19-year-old if he impresses in Europe this season.
