Ex Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham transfer kitty ‘revealed’

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly hand Ange Postecoglou a £100million transfer budget this summer.

The former Celtic manager has been tasked with rebuilding the North London club after a dismal 2022/23 season, and has already been linked with the Leicester City’s James Maddison and Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.

Arsenal are also interested in Tapsoba, who is thought to be valued at around £60million.

That would command a significant chunk of Postecoglou’s nine-figure transfer kitty, according to the Evening Standard.

Spurs are also said to be interested in goalkeeper David Raya, while it has been claimed Postecoglou could attempt to take Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi to the Premier League.

The 57-year-old coach was denied in his attempts to make the move to Spurs with coaches John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan in tow.

The pair will remain in Glasgow to work with new manager Brendan Rodgers at the Premiership champions.

Rodgers has signed on for a second spell at Celtic, agreeing a three-year deal which was announced earlier this week. Meanwhile, Celtic captain Callum McGregor has commented on the return of his former boss.

He said: “Yeah of course the guys at the top of the club have been working really hard and relentless to make this happen.

“You become aware of it probably the start of last week.

And there’s been a lot of chat, a lot of good work done to get it over the line. It’s great we’ve managed to get him back and it’s a real positive step for the club, a real statement of intent.

“The guys here from last time really enjoyed working under him, it was a successful period. And in terms of him coming back it’s important we draw that line and it’s about what we can achieve moving forward with the new group.

“He’s a top level manager, his preparation and detail towards every game, training session, he’s constantly thinking football and how to make the club, team and individuals better.

“He’s had a brilliant track record of that everywhere he’s been and the guys are looking forward to working with him at a close level and the guys who are still at the club, that’ll be a really good coaching team.
