Revealed: Major doubt emerges over Richarlison’s Tottenham future
Ange Postecoglou is keen to add more goals to his Tottenham side amid major doubts over Richarlison’s future, sources have told Football Insider.
Postecoglou and his new-look recruitment staff are set to turn attention to alternative targets as they vie to add more reliable options in attack.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Tottenham’s urgency has been borne out of major question marks over Richarlison’s fitness and goal output.
The Brazil international, who has recently been linked with Real Madrid, joined Spurs for a reported £60million last summer (2022).
However, the 26-year-old managed just three goals and four assists across 35 appearances in all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.
That includes just one strike in 27 Premier League outings.
The forward, who scored 13 league goals for Everton in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, earns a reported wage of £90,000-a-week at Spurs.
Richarlison led the line on just six occasions last season, with Harry Kane the undisputed first-choice striker for Spurs.
Postecoglou’s side are on the lookout for a wide forward who can play on either flank as they prepare for the departures of Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma.
Kane notched 32 goals and five assists in 49 games in the 2022-23 campaign but couldn’t help Tottenham secure European qualification.
Meanwhile, fellow forward Hueng-min Son managed 14 goals in all competitions after winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot in the 2021-22 campaign.
