Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been making waves this season, earning himself a spot in the MVP conversation. One person who has taken notice of Prescott’s impressive play is injured New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“He’s become one of my favorite quarterbacks to watch,” Rodgers said during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “I’ve watched more football this year than any other year because in normal years you’re getting ready for games.”
Prescott’s stellar performance has caught the attention of many, and the statistics back it up. According to ESPN, he currently ranks second in the league among qualified players with a 75.3 adjusted QBR, a 107.4 passer rating, 23 passing touchdowns, and a 70.0% completion percentage.
Rodgers praised Prescott not just for his ability to make good throws, but for his overall command of the game. “I love the way he’s playing, like really playing,” Rodgers said.
“It seems more rare where the guys are actually really playing the position where you’re making adjustments. You’re handling everything at the line [of] scrimmage, now you’re doing this crazy cadence stuff. I love it.”
Cowboys set their sights on Philadelphia
Prescott’s success has translated into wins for the Cowboys, who currently hold an 8-3 record. If the postseason were to start today, they would be the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs. However, they still have their sights set on overtaking the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles, who currently sit atop the NFC East and the overall conference standings.
The Cowboys’ next chance to prove themselves against the Eagles will come in Week 14 on December 10th, when they host Philadelphia. It seems that Rodgers will be rooting for Prescott and “America’s Team” to avenge their previous defeat when that Sunday Night Football contest gets underway.
While Prescott’s MVP odds may not be as high as some other contenders, with oddschecker listing Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts as the current favorite at +170, Rodgers believes that Prescott deserves recognition for his impressive performances this season. “I just want to shout out Dak for really impressing me,” Rodgers said.
