Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has stated that he has to accept his current position at Tottenham and learn from it as he bids to become a first-team regular once again. Previously one of the first names on the teamsheet under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, the Dane’s minutes have dried up following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as head coach.

Currently behind Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in the midfield pecking order, things could soon become a lot tougher for Hojbjerg once Rodrigo Bentancur returns from his long-term injury. Yet to start a Premier League fixture for Spurs this term, that may be about to change for the visit of Fulham next Monday as Bissouma is suspended for the game following his dismissal at Luton Town.

Now playing his part on international duty for Denmark, the 28-year-old has opened up on his current predicament at Tottenham. Revealing that he hasn’t received an explanation for his drop in pitch time, the midfielder has outlined that he will continue to work hard on the training field at Hotspur Way as he looks to win back his place.

“I don’t have that dialogue, to be honest,” said Hojbjerg when asked if he’s received an explanation for losing his place, as reported by Sport Witness via Ekstra Bladet. “My approach to it is to keep the focus on the things I can do something about. I have to be ready to help the team if I am called. So, I make sure to train well and keep my nose straight in track.
