LOS ANGELES — Michigan football has arrived safely in California as the Wolverines begin their final preparations for the Rose Bowl.
U-M flew charter from Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Tuesday afternoon, and they took to the air in the “Queen of the Skies” — a Boeing 747-400 with a custom interior for luxury travel. The Atlas Air-owned jumbo jet features “an exceptional VIP experience” to its passengers. It’s an upgrade in size — and likely in comfort — over the Boeing 757 used by the program for its most recent flights earlier in the fall.
The Wolverines landed at LAX at 4:35 p.m. PT, at which point they were whisked to their downtown hotel on a series of buses adorned in a Rose Bowl-themed wrap. The vehicles say “University of Michigan” in all caps atop the Rose Bowl’s nickname: “The Granddaddy of them all.” The artwork is completed with the block “M” and a bouquet of roses and petals.
